How the numbers work
How is the in-house cost calculated?
We take the median annual wage for the role from the Bureau of Labor Statistics (May 2025) and divide it by 0.7, because BLS data shows wages were 70% of total employer compensation for private-industry workers in June 2026. It includes benefits like paid leave, insurance and payroll taxes, but not recruiting, equipment or office space.
Why 48 weeks a year?
It allows for holidays and vacation, so the yearly hours reflect weeks you would actually work.
